Andreas Kappes has been cleared of doping by the disciplinary committee of the German Cycling Federation (BRD) after testing postive for nandrolone at the German track championships in Hamburg in July.

The three-times madison world bronze medalist was found to have inadvertently taken the steroid after it was discovered in a food supplement he had been using.

Kappes was suspended from his team, Agro Adler Brandenburg, after the initial result but team manager Dirk Meier told cyclingnews.com: "Our contract left us no other choice, but now he has been acquitted he could ride for us again in the coming season."

The 35-year-old also tested positive in 1997 and was suspended for six months.
