Paracyclist Luís Costa said he had a clear conscience and said he had requested a counter-analysis of the positive anti-doping test carried out in Paris two days before competing in the Paralympic Games, where he won the bronze medal.

"From heaven to hell. I have been notified that I tested positive for a banned substance, in an anti-doping test carried out in Paris two days before competing. According to the report, it is a diuretic (chlorthalidone)", said the 51-year-old athlete on his social networks.

Luís Costa, born in Castro Verde but based in Portimão for decades, stressed that he had “a clear conscience”.

“I did not deliberately take such a substance and I have already requested a counter-analysis,” he reinforced.
